Walking and Sightseeing Dominica

Explore Dominica’s vibrant volcanic south—home to world-class snorkeling and diving in deep turquoise waters filled with colorful fish and coral. Kayak along dramatic coastlines, hike through heritage-rich villages, and wander among fruit trees and warm sulphur streams. A perfect day to ease into island life and soak up the vibes.

The lush Roseau Valley is the Caribbean’s ultimate adventure playground. Hike through dense rainforest to hidden lakes and waterfalls, plunge into cool pools, and end your day relaxing in natural hot springs. Don’t miss the thrilling upstream swim through Titou Gorge—one of Dominica’s signature experiences.

This full-day hike crosses the heart of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, mixing village roads, forest trails, river crossings, and remnants of old Kalinago stone paths. The trail winds from Wotten Waven to Trafalgar, climbs to Laudat, and continues to the Middleham Falls area.

A 6.5 km jungle stretch follows—stony, rooted, shaded, and occasionally marshy—leading to the Pont Cassé Roundabout after about 6 hours. The final leg continues along highway and rainforest paths to the Emerald Pool for a refreshing swim marking the end of the hike.

Experience the charm and rugged beauty of Dominica’s Atlantic side. Swim at the Emerald Pool or Belles River, visit small farms and village schools, and see bay leaves processed into local staples. For more adventure, explore salt-water pools at Glasse, meet Rastafarian Moses in the mystical Zion Valley, and hike to the majestic Victoria Waterfall.

Spend a day immersed in Kalinago culture. Meet elders on their farms and in craft shops, sample indigenous foods, and enjoy serene village rivers. Hike sacred trails that reveal the deep connection between sea, land, and spirit. Don’t miss Charles Warner Pool and the lush Pagua Valley.

Discover the magic of the north coast. Take a daring jump into the famous Chaudière Pool, explore the Indian River by rowboat, walk the historic ruins of Fort Shirley, visit the Cold Soufriere, or relax on the golden sands of Batibou Beach. The north is a treasure trove of nature, history, and adventure.

This northern rural segment climbs steadily along an old estate road with sweeping views of Morne Diablotin and Milton Waterfall. From Moore Park, the trail ascends sharply to Palmiste, offering dramatic aerial coastal vistas that reveal the region’s volcanic past.

A descent leads through farmland to Vielle Case, followed by a long walk along the village road through Lower and Upper Penville—warm, rural communities with strong farming traditions. Look for the Demitri River for a possible cooling dip. The segment ends at Delaford.

Segment 13 follows a historic 7 km volcanic trail through dry forest, passing remnants of Grand Fond before reaching Capuchin and its cultural heritage.

Segment 14 continues by sea, with a local boat offering views of Cabrits, Prince Rupert Bay, and Douglas Bay, ending at Portsmouth’s Purple Turtle Beach for a refreshing finish.
