Our Cooking Caribbean offers a hands-on fun-filled experience featuring the best of Caribbean cuisine and rum….all in the comfort of our family home nestled in the hills of the tropical rain forest.
After 7 years of being operational, we have hosted more than 3,000 guests over the past 4-years. Special visitors have included renowned Chefs Nathan Lyon (Lyon in the Kitchen), Italian Chef Massimo Capra, and Vegan Specialist Taymer Mason. This cooking excursion has received encouraging reviews as well as increasing repeat customers, and many of our guests have commented that this is more than just a cooking tour, and feel it is better described as a fantastic local family experience with a great buffet meal as a side show.
As part of the offering we share our family stories and other island secrets about Caribbean living. Our culinary treat also features food and lifestyles, and highlights the sassy aspects that make Caribbean cooking what it is. We share on the local herbs/spices (and their use for healing and longevity), and show how different fruits and vegetables are used on a daily basis. We provide local recipes.
We also feature rum and rum tasting as part of our Cooking Caribbean; guests can sample the locally flavoured blends of herbal infused rum, and learn the secrets to using rum in cooking, and in infusing one herb over another, and how different blends have different effects.
